To celebrate becoming the bestselling author of 3 Keys to Unlock & Unleash Your Confidence, Samantha Mitchell hosted an intimate gathering of family, friends, and colleagues in Philadelphia. As the guests entered, they listened to the sounds of live saxophone performance, food catered by Chef Rashaun Scudder of Infinite Catering, music by DJ Smoove of True Blue Productions, and a brand interview by Shelly Shell Williams; oh yeah, that’s me.
Sam and I are students of David D. Simons, Premium Online Programs, a 12-week program that literally prepares us for greatness and building community. I would have to say; POP succeeded. Amongst Sam’s family and friends in attendance were other Premium Online champs Kalina Harrison and Donavan West.
Shelly Shell: As everyone asks what you want to be when you grow up, are you doing what you thought you would?
Samantha Mitchell: When I was young, I didn’t know what I wanted to be; I’ve been on this journey of finding myself. When I was a little kid, I liked working with my hands; I think because I didn’t have a father around, my mom relied on me to put everything together like I was the assembly lady, I was the fixing lady, I had a gift. So I leveraged that gift, and I was able to get into aerospace with that gift. I’ve been in aerospace for 20 years, and I love it. It fills me up from a technical perspective, but I missed the soft side of things. I had my own transformational journey, my husband and I opened up Anytime Fitness, which started filling up the softer side of me. I started training, and one of the things I realized with the training, nutrition coaching, and personal training that there was still something missing, which fast forwards us to where I am today. I realized it’s the mindset, and that’s why people are struggling with change. Because even if you change your nutrition, even if you get a trainer, if your mindset isn’t on 100, it’s going to be really hard, you may last a few weeks, but the sustainment is a lifestyle.
It’s been a journey, and I’m talking to anybody who needs this message; it’s a journey for me; I’ve lost and gained the weight back. I know how to do it or lose it, but everyone needs a coach. I have a coach, but it’s accountability.
