It must be nice how they “Juslisen” and “Luvanmusiq” on Valentine’s Day. To understand this sentence, you must be a true Musiq Soulchild and Lyfe Jennings fan. Since Musiq’s career, his album’s song titles had an Aussie Flava with a mash-up of words that never had the standard spelling rules. “Aijuswanaseing” (read: “I Just Want to Sing”), in 2000, with most of the record produced and co-written by Ivan “Orthodox” Barias and Carvin “Ransum” Haggins.

On Valentine’s Day, R&B superstar Musiq Soulchild makes his long-awaited return to his hometown of Philadelphia, accompanied by fellow soul star Lyfe Jennings, at the legendary Met Theater. Hosted by Keith From Up Da Block and with a surprise pop-up by Mike Jerrick is the co-anchor of “Good Day Philadelphia” as he took to the stage to introduce Keith From Up Da Block.

Buckwild was the special guest host, with Music by DJ Gary O and DJ Wayne Stackz, the headlining artist; this event featured comedy by Tommy Too Smoov & Shanell Renee. The Love Day was filled with a sexy evening of music, laughs, and good vibes,

The mega concert was the brainchild of Markee “Plex” Djordan of C.E.O. of Monster House Entertainment, The Desired Group, and The Connected Group.

Shelly Shell: A sold-out concert at the Met! Describe your emotions when preparing for a huge show?

Markee “Plex” Djordan: Every new level brings new challenges, and this show was no exception. When you do high-level events at large venues, it’s all about taking care of details big and small and putting the right team members in place to achieve the ultimate goal of putting on a great show and putting butts in those seats. Emotionally, it’s a roller coaster with many ups and downs and long nights, but when the outcome is a sold-out show, and your crowd is saying your show was amazing, it’s all worth it.

Shelly Shell: You’ve done many shows but was this the biggest event in Philly?

Markee “Plex” Djordan: This was definitely my biggest show, not just in Philly but in my career. Before this, my biggest show was my Super bowl weekend concert in South Beach Miami, Featuring Trina. But the size and logistically speaking, this last past concert in Philly was my biggest show to date. I partnered with Florida-based Entertainment Company The Desired Group, and together we took on this massive challenge.

Shelly Shell: I know it took a lot of hands to make this happen; who would you like to thank?

Markee “Plex” Djordan: I would like to thank everyone who bought a ticket for our event. My partner Desiree from The Desired Group, Shawn Frazier of Manson Frazier Media Group, our sponsor, Philadelphia Diamond Company, and all of the great performers for the show Musiq Soulchild Lyfe Jennings, Ashley Super, Tommy Too Smoov, Shanell Renee, Keith From Up Da Block, Buckwild, DJ Gary O, DJ Wayne Stackz. Shout out to Raymond Anthony from Laugh Out Loud Entertainment. Focus Films, all of the media outlets that covered the event. And the entire Monster House Entertainment and The Desired Group event staff helped make the event a success.

Shelly Shell: What are some of your most significant highlights of the evening?

Markee “Plex” Djordan: Some of my biggest highlights for me were seeing that crowd fill up one of the premier venues in Philadelphia and seeing them dance, sing, and enjoy themselves. Seeing the show come to life in real-time because these shows are like your child as a show promoter/producer. And kicking the ass of our great event host Keith From Up Da Block in our now famous R&B Verzuz lol…. But seriously, it was great as a host myself to share the stage with Keith; he’s an entertainment legend in our city and one of the best Philly hosts ever.

Shelly Shell: You teamed up with Philadelphia Diamond Company to give a $5,000 engagement ring. Tell me about the contest & the selection process?

Markee “Plex” Djordan: Yes, we teamed up with The Philadelphia Diamond Company, a black-owned jewelry company that’s been in business for a long time here in Philadelphia. .

We were very fortunate to allow us to give our event such a fabulous diamond ring out. The process for the winner was that you had to have already been a concert patron, then they had to send in an email explaining why they should win the diamond ring. We received some very interesting stories, but it came down to our winner Mr. Ernest DeRamos of Delaware, who proposed on stage. That part of the show was simply amazing and a win-win for all parties involved.
